NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback

NeurOptimal® neurofeedback is very gentle and does not push the brain in any one direction.  My own experience of it is that it is more of an invitation to the brain to come back to the present moment when it is working inefficiently. It has helped countless people improve their response to stress and quality of life.

Children with neurodevelopmental challenges (and their parents) are often in a constant state of stress.  This not only leaves them with less personal resources for coping with life’s challenges but makes them less available for learning, interacting and connecting meaningfully with others.

Attending to a lesson or a social partner requires that our eyes inform our ears as to where they should attend. When in a state of stress or “fight/flight/freeze”, our ears inform our eyes as to where to attend.  This is one of the ways that stress impacts our ability to learn and interact with others.

Stress impacts digestion and absorption of nutrients needed for growth and development.  It affects the body’s ability to excrete toxins and waste and to achieve restorative sleep crucial for growth, healing and the integration of learning and experiences.

NeurOptimal® can help children and adults:

  • Digest better
  • Sleep better
  • Improve immunity
  • Be more resilient to stressful events
  • Pay attention/focus on the task at hand
  • Be more available for learning and social interaction

NeurOptimal® can help to address:

  • ADD/ADHD
  • OCD
  • PTSD
  • ASD
  • Sensory integration challenges
  • Stress
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Digestive challenges
  • Chronic illness
  • Allergies
  • Immune challenges
  • Adrenal fatigue and more

The whole family can benefit from brain training and improving resilience to stress.  When family members are more calm and present, the child with challenges can be more calm and present, too.
